One of the eight concepts offered as part my (2003) graduate demonstration project on 'parking' was an automated garage system built beneath the street. In the attached article the concept has been made a reality .Automated Parking System

The field of automated parking has a number of useful tools other than the obvious task of parking. Our model shows developers how costs savings of construction and organization can be more beneficial to a project and thus raise the bar on the quality of what is being built today.
